The Tiger Moth was developed from the Gipsy Moth and made its first flight in 1931. The aircraft was chosen by the RAF as a primary trainer. After the first order of 35 aircraft it was decided for the follow-up order to make some modifications and to make it possible to practice instrument flying. Also, a slightly heavier engine was installed. This version was the DH 82A flew in Netherlands for instance with the KLu (Royal Netherlands Air Force), the MLD ( Dutch Naval Air Service) and the Rijksluchtvaartschool. Immediately after WWII, the KLu purchased a total of 56 Tiger Moths from the RAF and used them till 1963 for pimary flight training. In 1956, three aircraft were acquired by the Naval Air Service. From mid 50 years the Tiger Moth's were gradually replaced by the Fokker S-11. Many have been sold to civil owners. The A-57 is a fictious registration. This aircraft was purchased in 1986 by the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historical Flight. After a thorough restoration, it flies again. The civil registration of A-57 is PH-TYG.

The 002 is one of th three aircraft which were acquired from the RNAF .From mid 50 years the Tiger Moth's were gradually replaced by the Fokker S-11. The 002 ( first registered as U-103) has been used from 1956 till 1966 as tow plane with the gliderclubs of the Naval bases Valkenburg and De Kooy.

The Rijksluchtvaartschool(Dutch Government Flight Training School)was founded on Januari 1st 1946 on Gilze Rijen Airforce Base for training pilots for civil aviation. In the same year began the training of airforce pilots on Gilze Rijen as well but the base became too busy. Therefore the RLS was diverted to Eelde Airport(Groningen). The RLS started with ex RAF Tiger Moths, Harvards and Beechcrafts D-18S. Soon the Tiger Moths and Harvard were replaced by SAAB Safirs. In respect with the introduction of jet airliners in the 60's the Dutch Government ordered in 1962 seven Morane Saulniers MS760B for jettraining. During the period 1946 till 1960 the RLS have had in total 30 Tiger Moth's in its fleet. The PH-UAO flew with RLS from 1949 till 1960. It was sold to the NLS, Rotterdam Airport where it flew till 1970. The aircraft had been restored and since 1992 it is flying again with Dutch Tiger Flight, Lelystad Airport.

In July 1944 the RAF formed the No. 1316 Dutch Communications Flight. This unit was formed to be capable to set up its own transport squadron directly the war would be ended in Holland. It was stationed at Hendon and flew with different types such as De Havilland Dominie, Percival Proctor, a Lockheed 12A and a number of ex-KLM DC-3s. The unit was dismantled in May 1946 and four Dominies went to the Dutch Air Force (LSK, later KLu) to the No. 1 Transport Aircraft Division at Valkenburg Air Base. The aircraft were withdrawn in 1952 except the V-1, which remained in service until 1956. In 1948, the V-3 was temporarily registered as PH-VNC for an UN mission in Palestine.
After the Second World War a large part of the infrastructure of the Netherlands was destroyed and certain parts of the country were inaccessible. The government therefore set up the Government Flight Service and ask the KLM to operate a domestic network. 4 Dominies were purchased: the PH-RAA (c / n 6890), the PH-RAB (c / n 6891), the PH-RAC
(c / n 6893) and the PH-RAD. In May 1946 the PH-RAC (c / n 6893) and PH-RAD (c / n 6895) were added. At the end of 1946, the services were taken over by KLM's own DC-3s and the Dominies were sold to East African Airlines.
KLM Aerocarto purchased the V-3 of the Air Force at the end of 1952. First it got the registration PH-TGC and later PH-OTA and was worldwide used until 1962 for aerial photography. The aircraft was then sold to Aero Holland which used it until 1966. A few years it was an attraction at the playground of the Avifauna bird park. In 1968 the KLu got the aircraft again. It was restored as V-3 "Gelderland" and is today part of the collection of the Military Museum in Soesterberg.

The PH-MAD was the first Dove owned by Martin's Air Charter. In March 1960 it was painted in the similar livery as that of the from Alitalia bought DC-3. From 1961 till 1964 it got a new MAC-livery. In 1964 MAC bought Fairways Rotterdam. MAC needed the Fairways C-47A's urgently for its charterflights.The PH-MAD replaced the C-47A on the line Rotterdam-Southampton with the name "Fairways Rotterdam" instead of "Martin's Air Charter Ltd" on the fuselage. End 1964 however one stopped the service and the plane was painted again in the newest MAC-levery and mainly used for pleasure-flights over Amsterdam. After that sold to the UK.

Flashband Flight was part of Nationaal Vliegtuig Beheer, The Hague.Its activities were crop spraying an adhoc charters. The PH-KLS had been in the Flasband-fleet for only a few weeks, from 13.06.1965 till 16.06.1965. The PH-KLS(former G-AKET) was leased from Metropolitan Air Movements Ltd, Biggin Hill. The original Metropolitan-livery maintained with addition of "Flashband"on the fuselage. The reason why it have been such a short time in the Dutch register is not clear.

In January 1962 Martin's Air Charter took over Limburg Airlines which operated charterflights from Maastricht Airport. Its Dove PH-VLC and Heron PH-VLA were repainted in the colours of Martin's Air Charter. The PH-VLA flew in 1962/63 the Lufthansa-route Stuttgart-Frankfurt with the Lufthansa-livery. In May 1963 a tractor on Frankfurt Airport damaged the nosewheel and the aircraft had to be written off. Later the aircraft was repaired in the UK and in the end converted to a Saunders ST-27A in Canada.
